Job Summary
This position is intended as expert technical support of the Applied BioSystems-based Sanger data production pipeline. This position will be involved in Sanger sequencing services provided by the University of Chicago Genomics Facility. Additionally, this position will need to be able to perform other Core related services as needed.
Responsibilities
80% Sanger Sequencing Data Production Pipeline (bench):
Proficient in Sanger sequencing sample intake, sample processing and data output procedure.
Operates ABI and related equipment.
Work closely with other facility staff to ensure timely delivery of samples to PIs.
(20%) Other Facility related functions as needed:
Rigorous in keeping records related to the Sanger data production pipeline.
Update clients on project progress as needed.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Genomics.
Experience:
Preferred is a minimum of 3-6 month prior experience in a Core or Research lab setting.
Preferred Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate internally with co-workers and externally with Facility clients.
Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Detail oriented with strong sense of work ownership.
