Job Summary
Responsibilities
Research lab studies prion diseases, which are transmissible neurodegenerative diseases. Some human brain samples may need to be handled under strict safety requirements, so adherence to safety measures is of high priority.
Genetic screening of several transgenic mouse lines, using PCR protocols, will be a major aspect of this job.
Working with mice, including behavioral monitoring, recovery of tissues, brain dissections, and histological processing.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Experience:
Two (2) years experience in a related research environment.
Neuroscience background or experience coordinating Neuroscience based clinical trials.
Knowledge of medical terminology and comfort in a medical environment.
